Lose weight or....the consequences will be that I could become very sick. I need to do this...and I was doing ok for awhile, but for some reason I just cant stop cheating the past couple of months. Yes, thats an excuse... I know that. I need to be more in control of what I eat...Im the only one who can be. I'm thinking tho..that maybe with a little extra support during the times I feel myself slipping...may help, so thats why Im here. I will post some pictures in a bit. It will take me awhile to get them together, because I rarely allow a picture to be taken. Hi everyone! Yes, I would love to look as slim & trim as I was in my cheerleader days 10 years ago (and I totally WILL) but the real reason I'm starting Atkins is because...I hate how I feel in my clothes.
The worst feeling in the world is staring every morning at a closet chock full of designer duds and day after day only pulling out the comfy black pants that might be a tad too tight but they're the ones that still have a little give so I know after lunch they won't strangle my midsection!
Last January I ran my first 1/2 marathon with the most amazing girlfriends ever! Wait, make that....I walked nearly the entire thing and by the time I finally finished about 45 min after everyone else, the glimmer of the accomplishment had seriously waned.
So November 16th marks our 2nd "run" and this time....I want to RUN! And have a respectable finish. I know that if I shed the pounds...it will be that much better for me on the run. Overall goal is to lose 40lbs but I would be thrilled if in 3 months for race time I was down 20.

Hey everyone. My name is Karen. I'm on my 9th day and doing well. :) I gained alot of weight over the past couple of years due to back problems and the inability to be very active, but I have always had trouble with my weight so it just added to the issues. I am hoping this is something that can be the plan I need for a life time change and stop the yo-yo dieting. Luckly I have Med-Lg frame so I don't have to be too small to be comfortable with my look and energy is what I want most.

Or just plain dumb luck...I'm not sure, but I've been dealing with arthritis pain in my baby fingers for a while now, its gone. Not just "less" but totally GONE! I wonder if the high carbs inflamed the joints somehow.

ok heres the prob my cousin say chicken has no carbs in it but the skin in fried chicken has carbs id like to know how many carbs fried chicken has per serving so that way i know i aint goin over my limit, and peeling the skin off is frusterating and a waste of food, so plz help ty. :(- Safe for induction???
I found this recipe for Tex-Mex Quesadillas in the Atkins for Life Low-carb cookbook and was wondering if it was safe for induction. It says in the book it is but i'm not for sure.:confused2
Salsa:
3 ripe tomatoes, diced
1 scallion
1 tbsp chopped cilantro
1 tbsp lime juice
salt & pepper
Quesadillas:
1 pound boneless chicken breast
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp ground cumin
1 tbsp olive oil
4 (8in) low-carb tortillas
8 ounces Monterey Jack cheese- stand still
Can I eat the Advantage Bars on Induction? and if so do I count the net carbs or the traditional carbs (carbs-Fiber)?
Also, I'm on day 13 of Induction... lost about 5lbs and at a stand still. Am I doing something wrong or is that normal? will weight continue to come off? I am doing everything by the book except for Caffeine.- A true dilemma: Cheating? or Creativity?
Hmmmn. I was just advised by a wise woman that soy milk is not induction-friendly. (i had said in a post that I used a couple of tbsp. in my protein shake, yesterday.) For that matter, GNC protein shakes, at 1g/scoop aren't on the induction list either, but I've been substituting them (with water and that 2tbsp. trick) for Atkins-in-a-can.
So, are these improvisations "cheating" or true-to-induction / creative?
I know we are "by the book," here, and that's a big reason I belong to the ADBB board. But is "common sense" truly dangerous? In this case, two tbsps of "cream" is permitted, per the book, and the soy milk I use only has 1gm/cup! (It's not Silk.) That's less than cream at 6g/cup.
This is a very serious question for me. I do want to follow the guidelines and I do want to succeed. I do NOT want to "cheat."
If I'm being very carb-count conscious, drinking water and doing my minimum 12g of veggies... does it really matter what the other 8 carbs are?
For instance, this morning I had two eggs and cream cheese, but instead of adding onions/bacon/and maybe avocado, I did the mock danish recipe and added two tsp vanilla extract (.5g each) and two Splenda and nutmeg/cinnamon. It was like breakfast flan. And I didn't have carb cravings after. It was hours ago, and I'm still full. Sweet rather than salt made me happy.
I don't think vanilla extract is on the induction list. I have just thought to myself that it's OK to rigorously follow the spirit of this thing.- Awesome Salad
I have been eating - not kidding - for 7 days straight a salad consisting of fresh spinach, mushrooms, hard boiled eggs and bacon for lunch. It is sooooo GOOD!!
Sounds a little weird, but it works. The flavors work very well together.

I weighed myself officially on Friday after being on plan for a week and was at 230.2. This morning I stepped on the scale and I was 229. Is it normal for the losses in induction to slow down so much?- Feeling wired...

So, Ive been adhereing to induction 'strictly' for a while now.. the last couple of days Ive experienced slight head-ache, a feeling of being wired (if that makes any sense) Everything okay with this, will it disappear?
I just wondered about macro breakdown. I know that during induction you dont count calories or look at macros, just keep carbs to a minimium during this phase.
What about OWL - what is the breakdown there? And for Maintenance?- **((HeLp.... Ive tried so many times ))**
Hey guys... Man its like a broken record for me... Last time I had success with atkins and lost 30lbs and felt like I was on top of the world...(280lbs down to 250lbs 6 foot frame) I cant seem to find the motivation even though I have the reasons to go all the way!!! Im heavier then ever (330lbs) and I love to eat and thats why i chose atkins to help me get where I want to be 220lbs give or take!!! Anybody else have this much problems as i have?? What is everyone doing to lose all this weight.... Im in desperate need of some help and support...

Hello everyone.
I'm sure I've talked to some of you before but I started out in January 2008 I believe it was and I lost around 50 pounds by the middle of May. I had ankle surgery at just over the half-way point of May and after the surgery it was too hard for me to keep on this WOE (or so I told myself). I'm about recovered from the surgery and I'm walking "BETTER" but I have to take it easy (no repetitive activities for 6 months) until the cartilage they are growing, grows.
So here I am..3 moths later and I wonder, "Could I be up to 75+lbs of weight lost?". I had to have surgery but the basic steps are over. I have since then gained 35 of the 50 lbs back and I know I need to get back to this WOE (but with my wife this time). The problem is that I just don't have the motivation like I had before.. I know nobody can do it but myself but I think getting on here again and browsing around was a first step. Posting is now my second step.......
What do you all think?

I will not go to wendy's and get a cheeseburger (no bun) today.
I have been doing that for three days straight I am damn sure that's not Dr. Atkins wanted us to do - that's just the easy way out.
To make this a lifestyle - I must commit to cooking my lunches. I have been doing great with breakfasts and dinners (I think my boyfriend has fall in love with me all over again because I have been serving eggs, bacon, lamb, cornish game hen...etc)
But if this is going to be a lifestyle I need to leave the fast food for emergencies.
I also will eat veggies through out the day so it won't spike my blood sugar at night when I usually have been eating them all.
I will also listen to my body and hear when it's full. This is hard though because my body doesn't know what "happy and full" is. It only knows starving and OMG I AM SO FULL. So this will take practice - I am sure my body is in pure shock when I feed it bacon and needs time to adjust...like "ok...alright....I am not gonna starve....I dig this" and begin to love me again.
Have any of you felt like that? Like your body needed to adjust to feeling full and happy instead of two extremes?
